Platonic Solid Paintings

Painting Icosahedron

Platonic Solid "Icosahedron"

The study of the Platonic Solids starts from the Pythagorean School, in astronomical observations and musical experiments the investigations of the Pythagoreans related to numbers took place. Plato associates the four elements Air, Water, Earth, Fire respectively to the Octahedron, Icosahedron, Hexahedron, Tetrahedron. The Platonic solids are the only solids whose faces are equivalent and equal to each other, and whose edges and vertices are equivalent, inscribing them in a sphere all their vertices lie on its surface. I have depicted the Icosahedron (Water Element), composed of twenty Equilateral Triangles, with a mysterious fish that goes towards the light crossing the Solid. The painting is very detailed, I applied glazes in the fins and in the tail to increase the sensation of transparency and fluidity, completing with a coat of fixative. Size 40x50 cm.

I depicted the Octahedron (Air Element), made up of eight Equilateral Triangles, with a bird resting on the solid suspended in the air. The dimensions of the painting are 40x40 cm, made with acrylic colors on canvas.

Sacred Geometry

Fibonacci Spiral Painted

Fibonacci Spiral

The geometric representation of the Fibonacci's numerical sequence is the famous "Fibonacci Spiral". It is easy to find Sacred Geometry in many plant species, it is also applied in the depiction of human proportions, see Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, it is applied in past and present religious architecture, to painting, for example in Dali's works, to photography. I designed this painting by positioning the final part of the spiral on the left, so that the focus of the work, that is the final part of the Spiral was the Chameleon, contrasting on the right the phases of the moon, corresponding in part to the frequency numbers established by Fibonacci, then add the vegetation and the hummingbird at the bottom, creating the desired day / night contrast. I painted with acrylic paints on a 70 x 50 cm canvas.

Painted Moths on canvas

Moths

The Square is symbolically interpreted as a dynamic expression of the number Four. The ages of the world, human life and the lunar months are rhythmic on the number Four, the meaning of the geometric shape is solidity, it expresses the terrestrial. The Circle is a symbol of animation, it expresses the celestial. The so-called "Sacred Geometry", in addition to the rigid geometric patterns, is rich in symbols. The idea of the small painting, 40x40 cm, comes from my interest in geometric shapes in general, I worked enough time in the architecture studios to develop the attraction towards symmetry and clear lines. The canvas contains both geometric shapes: the canvas for the square, the arrangement of the moths forming a circle. I painted the flying moths on this blue background dotted with planets with very thin brushes and acrylic paints. It is one of the works that I love the most.

Painted Goddess Kali

Kali

“Kali” is a painting commissioned by the owner of a crystal shop, passionate about Indian culture and holistic disciplines. The terrible and wonderful Kali also known as "The Dark One" represents the shining energy, the divinity that regulates the time, beneficial Goddess of sleep, companion of Shiva. All the symbols in this interpretation are those belonging to the classic iconography of the Goddess, as well as the drum (Damaru) of Shiva, the Serpent, the Mudras, the Skulls, the Flowers dedicated to the two deities, Hibiscus for Kali and Datura for Shiva, the Severed Head, the Trident, the Saber. For the background colors I used those of the wonderful pigments sold in Indian markets, the frame is a tribute to henna tattoos, crowned with the Yantra Kali symbol. The picture measures 40x60 cm, painted with acrylic colors on canvas.
